hey dude, latest updates are looking good.
Listen to what all these wise people have to say man...get an anatomy book from loomis, bridgeman or hogart or whatever and start studying seriously, if you want to improve really fast.Sit in front of it, read, copy the pictures. While you draw them, make sure you always visualize what you work on in 3d in your head. Then try and use what you've learned on something completely different.
Remember to keep the subject varied too, don't fall in a comfortable position or you won't be motivated to push harder.Always challenge yourself ;)
keep pushing man, keep pushing, and make this SB grow...quick.
WhiteC thx a lot, next time i will be more carefull about the angle of the eye :) pratice pratice pratice
Machineabuse thx for the kind words!
Sirio_Brozzi thx u! i will back to painting as sson as i can, unfortnatly cant use my table 1 pc for 3 persons :P must kick some ass's haha
Dan_Grr thx mate, i will diversity for sure :) obrigado
TheGnoll thx for the suport! i will try to have in consideration everything u guys told me.. thx for real!
its my post in page 2! i'm kinda of glad, my foot is good again, ive studie for tomorows test and i got some time to draw :) i now will try to have in consideration every single word for suport and crit while i draw, thx u everyone.
just a small dump while i watch Tv, lack of dedication ( note to myself: do not draw while watch tv, it distracts! :P )
seems color is your weak spot, atm. do more color studies, also get rid of the white background when working in color, first. that's really important and helps a great deal to get better results with color! =)
the latest is very interesting...what is it?? i think you should develop it more :P
my man call0ps,
sorry im so damn slack and hardly reply to your book man :nohope:
i really like the way you're using that pencil, great confidence in some and rawness in most. can i suggest something? try drawing form your elbow, really loosen up and draw big arcs to get your forms, this adds alot of life to drawings i reckon, great for quick sketches.
sorry about the foot, bad to hear, but im glad you're still at it! im really looking forward to seeing where you take your drawing in the next few months ;)
also you draw women really well, chicks are haaaard to draw well.
keep it up friend :)
hello callops, whats up man, i like that last one, good details on the pipes. A bit hard to see whats going on ( maybe im a freak but i see a crow foetus in there ?! ) Maybe its your scanner but this piece could use some darker blacks, and some cast shadow coming from that pipe would help with the overall 3d feeling in my opinion... hope you dont mind if i crit your pencil which are far better than mine btw. And something maybe you dont know if you use photoshop, theres a nice thing called auto-level that i always use each time i scan something, it fixes most of the crappy work done by the scanner. ( ctrl-shift-L ) ;)
keep posting !
Yo dude, thanks for stopping by my book!
This has incredible potential as an emotive drawing - you've captured an awesome moment, fleeting yet timeless if that makes any sense. What it need is a more emotive style. I usually use hair, leaves or snow to handle this, to get that sense of emotion going better. Would like to see this one get taken further.
Would also have to echo Donkey. Keep them coming mate, and don't forget to work on the more technical side of things - anatomy and such.
This thread is hot!
I like it a lot, I think some more life drawing wouldn't hurt though.
Keep it up, mate!!
At this point, I dig your pencil sketches most! You have a good eye for directing the viewer to what's most important.
Good start, Call0ps. One thing I noticed was that you tend to avoid full body sketches, because I have the same problem. And TV is definitely the anti-draw. And do some more studies! :) Keep it up, cheers.
adraude u totaly right is the colour my weakest point :P thx for the tip, non-blank background.
rodrigo! lol its a human heart in a boxe connected to some machines by wires :P sorry i probably wont be doing it by i will make sure i will do more of this kind :D
Don-key thx for your kind words and suport :) thx a lot for the tip i'm tryng to do it, its more hard but its surtenly more floid. thx u a lot!
WhiteC thx WhiteC, about the darks i guess i should do it more with the pencils than in PS, i didnt knew about the Auto-level thx for it also
Brendan N thx its something i love to draw not for the people etc.. but for the emotive sensation, guess its to much monster and such this days, maybe some art to make u smile in many ways should be more pleasurble.
Tigermilk thx you. i will do it for sure.
sabe2003 thx u :) but i'm far far away from have a "good" eye :P but i will work for it hehe .. cheers
Zord Yeah .. these days i'm noticing that, i'm avoiding, lazyness dosent help also. thx for the critic its really helped me :D cheers
this is a non-art-posting, i want to say everyone thx for the support, but the reason i'm doing this post its because i wont be able to post for a mounth probably :S i will come everyday to the forum ofc. But next mounth i have a European Kendo championchip, and this year i will participate, part of the team. and i wanted to dedicate a bit more in kendo. after all i will represent my father and my country Portugal! we are small and weak but i as a team member i want only the best for my other fellows. I will post if possible some works, cant promisse .. i wil be around
Hey man last drawing looks nice, maybe a little bit undefined.
Good luck in the championship dude.
looks great but it needs bigger masses of "dark" to create a rythm, now it's all just hectic and all over the place!
good luck with the kendo!
I like the variety in your sketches. The helmet digital painting looks cool :).
Keep it up and good luck in the championships.
You have some nice pencil work going on, with alot of spirit put into them. Some soft and some harder than others. Keep posting, i look forward to seeing more from you:)
Shinryu thx :) yeah u right, need more contrast ( black )

( shinais means bambu sword ), and did some homework.. got time now at night to draw :D well here an 1h30m paiting before bed..
btw anyone interessted in kendo and is able, come over to portugal to assist the European kendo championships :P
i forgot to put some colour to the background :s argh.. Adraude sory, it wont happen again!
some minor issues with the nose and her right side of the face.
The ear feels a tad too small too?
Hey dude! Thanks so much for the constant support!
Last one does look great, think you should introduce more colours into the face. Keep it nice and desaturated, but add some blues and yellows and perhaps greens to the face aswell - very subtly! Jason Manley once said you can find all the colours in a good looking skin tone.
Looks great though, keep it up!
I agree with brendan and Manley about the the different being present in the skin tones. VEry much true. Btu ttis really hard to capture those colors because they are so subtle.
the pencil are wuite cool but the coloring need work. YOur a lot liek me, I am not that good with coloring either. Still keep working. PRactice makes perfect.
very nice sketchbook :) some minor issues with facial construction but nothing that can't be corrected with a little bit of work and practice. And good luck with the European Kendo championship.
hurricane thx u, and yes theres issues and ain small ones, hoping to improve :P cheers
Brendan N thx U for the suport:) thx for the critic, and god bless Jason Manley, thats a damn good phrase. i wont forget it ( hopely )
bhanu thx for the critic, yeah im real bad with colour but like u said, pratice makes perfect, thx for the suport
OldNoobie thx matte for you kind words and suport:) and i will need all the luck for the championship :P
here i am! i'm on vacations now, i have no damn school for 2 weeks, guess now i have time to draw and pratice kendo :D i hope to able to do it... draw a lot, and pratice kendo a lot my dream of life must say. well here some sketchs i did today, thx for the critics and AlexC tip on photoshop i was able to make more contrast on my work.
tea with the devil?
nice book going here bro. in your pencil work remember to feel out the forms and try to suggest volume by wrapping your values around the forms. on the heart for instance you might be better off suggestion the folds and bulges with variations in value rather than line. keep at it!
nice work recently man, i like the tea with the devil hand study :D
post 77 chick is pretty hot too ;)
kendo sounds like a cool hobby. And you could use pics of you or your kendo friends to practice poses ;)
Your pencils are getting good, I love the tea cup one and the heart above, hope you have time to post some more. ;) Post some kendo pics too if you have them. :)
Ryan DeMita thx u for the critic, i tough about whats u said "suggest volume by wrapping your values around the forms" and after do it i saw my drawings are u are so right about it, i hope to learn from my mistakes and your and others help:) again.. thx u
TheGnoll thx u Gnoll, glad u liked the hand studie, i was a bit tired of girls and boys maybe something diferent .. about kendo pics, well i got this problem, i dont have any camera :s i will ask some friends if i can post their pics here ;)
Bojee thx for the suport and the kind words, i will post more at least for 1~2 week until the school starts again :s
today i didnt get time to draw, always something to do argh ... thats life i guess.. altough i did a fast suck doodle..
Argh missed a few updates callops, but anyways..
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y11...transplant.jpg <--cool dude, cool. Really different, Nice rendering. Digis are showing good progress, but you need to do some head studies possibly, noticing little anatomy quibbles here and there on that digi with the female. And how long did that speedy take ya? Its not half bad for a start. Keep it up! ciao.
Good start on this last one. :)
hey Callops things are coming along nicely here. love #77 and the first pic in #82. minor crit- the girl at the bottom looking down - her face and cranium appear to be at different angles/ sizes. I think that this can happen when you do not consider the mass of the head as a single unit. anyway keep it up!
Great studies and nice use of values. Looking forward to seeing more.
