Hey, Sarah, as a fellow AE, I have to say that your stuff is looking pretty good, but your hand studies are absolutely top notch. They make everything else pale in comparison. One really effective technique that I've been recommending is to draw something from reference, then draw it again without the reference and compare the three. I think that if you start incorporating more of the "real" in your work, it will really take-off.
ya wow you actually have a great sense of space and depth, glad to hear you love aero enginerring so much, but u know... would be cool too to have u with the art geeks crowd professionally =D *evillaugh
hehe, lovin that collab doodle page, and the pic of the plane is nifty. nice stuff.
the cat on top and the page of hands rock!! good to see you posting!
And I finally got off my ass and used the scanner!
Once again, not much, but better than nothing!
This1: Dude, I thought I was the only person who remembered that show! I loved it so much. I used a much older version of Colossus in this picture, I have a soft spot for early comic book characters. I see your point though, in the newer comics he's huge!
Dogfood: Thanks! The hand studies actually surprised me, they came out better than I expected. I like your idea about drawing from life and then memory, I'll have to try it.
Jcai: Thanks! I love art, but I don't think I could do it as a job, I tried doing commissions once and that was just a tragedy of lazyness and forgetfulness. My mind equates art with relaxation, I can't turn it into work.
Here's a new page to the comic (still having issues with rendering the dragonmen) and a new moleskine I like.
Ohhh, hey, a WIP for this weeks COW!
Photoshop Phun. An experiment in cell shading.
New stuff! I've been so lazy recently. Fuschia lizard is from in artist called psychohazard.
nice... cell-shaded corinthian-type fella....
thanks for the SB love.... your colors are always so vibrant! and your cars rock!
dope submission for the COW of the orange leviathin, and cool experimentation with cell shading, its a cool drawing man. good job on the hand studies too, although your palms are a bit off, the worst one being the one in the middle farthest to the right.
Hey Staylor, got some sweet stuff in here!!! Really like those monster sketches. Gotta say this one is my fav. http://www.wpi.edu/~stay1or/rooftopfightsmall.jpg
Please post more good stuff girl!!! :yayca:
cool work here! i really like the form on the dragon here
its good youre separating tones in light/dark with the colours.
i think youre improving with digital stuff looking at the latest c.o.w!
p.s more hands!!hands!!
Well, I finally started work on a new larger picture, I hope it'll come out alright (and barring that I at least hope I learn from it, I'd still like a pretty picture though).
Glikster: Thanks! I like to draw cars, they're all shiny and have neat mechanical bits. And I looked up the Corinthian and found that Niel Gaiman apparently also had the same idea as me that teeth eyes are cool. Well, I guess there are worse things than accidentally copying Niel Gaiman.
This1: Thanks! I gotta do more hands.
Gmags: I'll get to work on some new arts, hopefully they'll turn out well :P
Rodrigo!: The pink dragon thing isn't mine I'm afraid, that was the other member of the OC collab :P I'll do many more hands though!
Here's the arts, pencil sketch is for a big new digital picture, crit it as much as you like (keep in mind that the cyborg is much bigger than a normal human though). The other two are work scribble, one of a Hork-Bajir from the Animorphs series (can I get a shout out from all the other animorphs nerds?) and the other is a plane sorta like a spitfire.
More work sketches and progress on the big picture.
Hurray for Engineers!! Go go go!!
I like your stuff and your grasp for anatomy, proportions could use a little work, but I like the muscles you draw
Redesign of the devourer monster (apparently the old one looked to much like a Sandman character). And more progress on the zombie and truck.
the last one is looking cool very intense textures
dont forget with hands to spend a bit more time developing bony parts and the shape before inking.
the rendering on this last one is getting really good! Can't wait to see it done!
I'm back from a short vacation up in maine, and I've finally got my computer set up at home (but sadly no scanner yet, pencil and pen art will come soon) so here's some digital stuff to prove that I'm still here.
Rodrigo!: Thanks, and I'll focus more on the bones.
More progress on the cyborg and truck, as well as a speedpaint I enjoyed making. Perspective is iffy on the speedpaint, but I like some of the things I tried out for the first time.
The scanner is connected! And there was much rejoicing and blinking of lights!
Moleskine study, study of a franklin stove, and me being generally weird.
There is also Lobster Johnson, from Hellboy. Fighting Lampreymen. 8)
Doing some cool pages here! good to see some study, the wip is looking cool, look forward to seeing the finished peice! Your imagination stuff is rocking (animorphs brought back memories lol) just try draw abit more from life :D keep it up!
You have some truly interesting drawings, your skills with the pencil are very good.
Praise be to the Massive Black Cockerel! Full thumbnails have returned!
Spade: Thanks, hopefully it'll get done!
More stuff to come as I scan it, I'm sooooo laaaaazzzzyyyy...
Blue creature is psychohazard's (also goes by the name of Torsion here, but she lurks mostly).
Also, my sister is craaaazzzyyyy...
i like the ink drawing dude with the guns, i think the black shadows work well.
the cyborg pic is coming along, but id suggest making the cyborg a different colour to the tank or something?
sure... your "sister".......
D'awww, CA says it loves me when I log in now <3
Rodrigo!: Hey, thanks for the crits, I changed the cyborgs color and it helped alot!
Glikster: Sure... it was my sister, it's not like I helped or anything :bashful:
WIP of the cyborg and truck (crits appreciated), some requested sketchies, graffiti attempts, and more random sketches.
I've got to do more anatomy drawings, I forced myself to learn the basics years ago, but now I'm at the point where I need to refine my anatomy again.
I think my hands have much improved though!
looking good!! the cat man's pose seems a little off, though....
Glikster: Yeah, it came out really wierd.
Mmmkay... I haven't scanned in my pencil and pen work, but I finally have digital stuff!
the lighting seems a little inconsistent in the last piece.... I think it may be the similarities in hue between the vehicle and the robot that's making me feel that way.....
Great pose on the first digi....
Update more! (Like I'm one to talk...)
