sorry i haven't dropped in for so long man, these new updates look frikin sweeet! congrats on the improvement man!
I really like this one nice textures and expression :) some nitpicking would be that the ears seem a bit high up and i feel the value around the cheek area closer to us + corner of mouthis too weak compared to the other side of the face being hidden, which its making it look slightly weird as it should be closer to the viewer.

I'm not sure what paper would say about the edges, but if you look at that crazy dude with the tiny notebook, the only softness that's happening is really inside the forms, the modeling on the muscles, for example. Almost every time time one form overlaps another the edge is of the same sharpness. His arm overlapping his chest, that shirt overlapping his pecs etc. Jason Chan has a pretty sharp, crisp style, but look at the edges on this one, there's still a lot of variation in edges here.

hey man serpian covered a lot of what I was gonna say but also get some arial perspective in there (eg the first two characters of your last update you have the legs quite forshortened, but because of how deep the tone and sharpness of your strokes are, the effect of being distanced on the leg at the back isn't as obvious as it could be)
I'm not saying you're not using edge variation at all but rather some places you should watch out for more and "artistically enhance" will help you out a lot.
eg the boxer guy study in the newest update is very good, but if u look closely, by adding the darkest tones on that really sharp edge between his torso and the arm at the back you have effectively negated the impact of forms on his back and external oblique muscule groups. Those should be forward in space while the hand tucked away should be pushed backwards. I know it might be an unfinished study but that one hard line there destroys all the effort you put into modeling and rendering the form on the muscles, I think.

Your work has a rhythm and flow to it that is really impressive to me, and illusive as well in my own work. What sort of studies have you done to develop this rhythm?
A belated reply, but thanks for whipping up that rhythm in shapes and values diagram you made for me. That was really cool of you to do, and to this day I still refer back to that for thoughts and ideas.
I dig a lot of the stuff in your sketchbook here, you've got a ton of cool thumbnails and quick sketches.
I wanna see you take some of those sketches and flesh them out in great detail, with a lot of attention given to rendering, composition, and color.
One problem I've noted in your color sketches is that the colors of ten come out muddy, and obfuscate the subject a lot.
take This post as an example. The line drawing was really engaging for me. The values of the pencil drawing were rather shallow, no heavy darks to contrast all the white of the paper, but I suspect that the pencil drawing wasn't the point of this sketch. You lost me on the color rendering though, because it looks like when you imported the image into photoshop you just applied the color directly over the pencil work and let the original pencil shading act as the shading for the digi rendering as well.
I'm not sure what your goal is there, but it produced colors and values that were very muddy and hard to read. I had noticed a lot of similar problems happening in other sketches you have posted here.
I know you haven't posted in this sketchbook for a while, don't know if you've got a new one elsewhere, but for what it's worth I hope I helped in some way.
