Xaya´s Sketchbook -
PAGE 1 to 3 didn´t show any works by me, because my webhost
sucked my images....
i visit this site for good 2 months and it´s truly a inspiration and a kick in the ass to draw...
to introduce myself: i am student at a german kind of secondary school of Design (not that thing u imagine  )
I am 19 years old and want, after finishing school, go to a art school...
so here we go... some with references some without... u may see...
sorry for that bad quality but my scanner is gone and i have to shot by my digicam..

images are too big, hä? ;)
well here is another one done on carton,
i tried to paint it with gouache colors (i hate these!!)
and finally killed the tension..
i think thease are verry good and a great start for your dsb !
@liam.c:*puh* thank you
ok here another sheet of paper filled with freestyle stuff (no ref)
perhabs you already see the differences in quality among the sketches...
it is really a thing of concentration... and patience
(i normally have the behavior to do it the fastestway i am able to :nohope: )
Hi there :)
It's good to see that you're focusing on figure drawing in your dsb... anatomy studies are so important so keep it up!
I really like the self portrait, even if it doesn't look like you ;)
Maybe you could add a little more darker values to your drawings as to create more depth.
Great start for your dsb
keep it up :teeth:
thank you t.m0 for reply
yes i had really problems to press the pencil more into the paper generally.
So there is no chance to fill the spectrum from white to black with the pencil.
U will see that the drawings are done very tight mostly.
I must really kick myself work the things more out, go over the sketching stage to the rendering stage... perhaps next time
2 new pages without ref
- i must buy a new sketchbook this week!
what exactly do you want to see?
i need responds!
u see that i do not really have a "true" sketchbook... :er:
great stuff on the last few particularly the profile of the woman , looks good!
Nice and Grad to see you post your works here. I'm kind of new here too. Anyway, don't be shy to sketch and post your work. I like your drawing line. I would love to see more gesture drawing that demonstrate how much you understand in human anatomy. should be some quick skecthes. post more.I look forward to see. cheer up P.S. Do you like drawing perspective or architecture....If you do I can give you a little more advices to get start..
that´s kind of you winwinja
well i really focus human anatomy.
Drawing architecture and similar is currently just a background thing.
Nevertheless i really like it especially churches and old buildings...
so u may see some next time
i am a bit busy because i have to paint a still with candy for school and do that with gouache colors (i don´t like gouache and i don´t like stills!!!)
so you may see some anatomy demonstration tonight
(sometimes it is really suprising to see what you can draw already...
improvements all days!)
really like the best your 15min selfportrait. its the best one!
keep on drawing anatomy as you are doing now. :)
if you have time drop by in my sketchbook.
these are mainly some basic sketches for poses
really simple, did they yesterday and today
(not really my days :dad: )
the profile of the woman is done without ref... just from memory after the one some post above
here we go no ref. used
You're makin' some progress you just have to stick with it! I really like the refed stuff the best. The faces towards the top just looked really nice. Don't be afraid to render out some of these figures really well sometime. You've got a good thing going! I'll be lurking to see how this progression continues. I'm sure you'll do great! :teeth:
ok i really forced myself doing some rendering (=some rough shading)
i did not really work that much this weekend so this is the fast results
the sleeping man is my dad after work on his sofa
so its true life drawing :confident
the other drawing is done from heart  (no ref.)
some questions to the masters here:
I screw up about 60% of the sketches / drawings i do.
So will this become better than i more skilled
or is there everywhere a bad start which follow a new beginning?
Not really sure about the question ^^ but if you take a look at my roomies sketchbook you can see a lot of progress from beginning to end achieved in about 2 months just by practicing and drawing every single day (without courses, classes or whatsoever).
so just draw draw draw and you'll get better in no time ;)
keep it up
i see my english didn´t work...
i wanted to ask if u do also some sketches which are really bad in comparison to your actuall skill... so that you have to throw it in the garbage...
but just thinking about this i guess that if you give more time checking proportions and linework (which are so important)
u can´t really do some bad stuff.
Oh, that's what you meant ^^
nobody's perfect and I think it happens all the time, that a drawing doesn't really match others you did before or what you are able to produce. Though sometimes it happend that I kept working on a really bad drawing, until it turned out pretty cool :bashful: So don't give up. If it sucks.. who cares anyway.. as long as it doesn't pull you down. :D
arr.. got a cold :nohope:
well this is everything i done today
can´t concentrated copy something
so i let my right hand do what it want to...
max. 10min each
I don´t want to get a ordinary babyface at all if you think so.
just some random shapes...
Ah i see i have to work at the value - spectrum from white to black
What pencil do you use getting really dark (black) lines? (not speaking of markers)
With a mechanical pencil it is difficult....
(or do you buy +2b "graphit sticks" for it?)
I for instance am cheating ;) I'm using a black polychromos - only way to have it really black and it doesn't even smear all that much!
just had to look up what polychromos are... *g*
well i questioned this because i can´t really understand how some guys here achieve some really (big) black areas without the negative aspects i get.
And there is no diffences if i use a 2b or a 8b pencil
I already saw Feng drawing with Prismacolors, which also are mentioned in some Loomis books... think i catch some of them...what i saw they work fine.
after a good day there have to be 10 bad days...
I hadn´t motivation so i did each in about 5min... (do you see it?)
no flow or feeling anywhere :dad:
ok next time it will be better....
i need a break.... for inspiration and change...
I also did some selfpotraits today but they a really :x
ok here some faces....
although the impressions are copied by loomis
i recreate characters for them...
well i took a shower
and forced myself doing a self potrait
(can´t accept my previous) tries...
so i started more logically...
just put some tight lines which discribe shape and shadow/light areas...
perhabs this work it out... perhabs :er:
you should take some time and really finish a couple things....like this last SP for instance. If something isn't working, fix it, make it work. No excuses, you can do it! keep em coming!
I never used to have the patience to finish something, then I did a couple thunderdomes, now I can spend a day or two or 3 on a drawing. even pro's take time when the draw, and speed comes from drawing it slow a hundred times...you're on the right track though...
but i am so tired
no you are absolutely right... it is time to finish somthing!!!
Because i am of at a "design branch" school we have to draw
illustrations and stills from time to time
and especially illustrations are a lot of fun
and the works spend a lot of time (to many time sometimes...)
The point is that i am a little (sub]conscious afraid of go a step on... destroy the recent stuff.
Another thing is that i have to high demands of the thing i draw
it have to be a deeper background (in theme) and so on...
its really time to kick that attidutes...
ok here the next little step... work on tomorrow... time is over for today
