Searching for a little direction from a been-there-done-that
Hey, first time poster here.. Little nervous so have mercy on my poor newbie soul. I'm currently sitting at a cross roads and I'm in desperate need of advice. I'm half way through my third year of school at Lander University in Greenwood SC as a Visual Arts Graphic Design emphasis in a B.S. program. I've come to the conclusion that the course isn't competitive enough. I'm coasting, straight A's, easy peasy lemon squeasy. I applied at RISD as a transfer and I'm waiting to hear the results. What else should I be doing right now? Should I Apply at UA or CCo or Maryland or Calarts? How important is it that I go to a really good school? Is it going to really boost me? Because right now I feel like my work coming out of a competitive program is going to be ten times better than if I stay in a situation where I'm getting by easily without really pushing myself to the max? The cost is an issue, but it's not insurmountable. I'm looking at potentially having an entire semester to reorganize for this shift, should I look for internships? Will I be able to get an internship considering I'm not a senior?
I'm not sure if anyone is going to be able to answer the disturbing amount of questions I just threw out, but any advice is appreciated. It can't hurt right?
If you'd like to see some of my work I have a photography website (The website design is a piece in my portfolio as well) though the design page isn't finished yet. The address is www.jordanmoureau.com
