Magellan's mind travels
I thought I'd start a sketchbook here so that I can get some good advise and critiques on what to practise more on. My goal right now is to be some kind of illustrator or concept artist.
I'll just start of with some older finished stuff:
ok so there's some stuff I already made.. Now lets see if I can get any better!
so here's a bunch of sketches I made recently:
aaalright! more to come shortly!
Something I made for school...
you know a lot of drawing/painting techniques some of them are quit fresh and your images as well
Great variety in your Sketchbook, I especially like the monochrome watercolors. Keep pushin.!
Thank you! Here's two photostudies I did a while back. More stuff soon!
I started doing some bridgeman studies because I know my anatomy sucks... so here's the first few pages.. and a bonus octupus!:)
also me and jbruno started a sketchgroup here.
here's two samples from the sketchgroup:)
some sketches I made during a lecture today
painting I made for my girlfriend:)
and this is a christmas card I made for 2012
hope you all had a great christmas and a happy new year! :)
cool stuff! a lot of your stuff looks good and shows potential and other pieces look like you need more practice with the basics. maybe try and continue with studies, anyways keep posting!
thank you very much for the feedback!:) I know what you mean.. I know my anatomy sucks for one thing.. i'm working on that! Feel free to point out any other things you think I could practice more on, would be a great help! thats the reason I post here, to get better! thanks again!
Nice works man. The one with the dude with the white hair is shockingly nice...I like the blurred out effect, I wonder if you use filter or brush to get that look when i see that...its sweet. the bots are cool as well. Sweet first page, keep posting!
Thank you very much froz3n! I just used a normal soft edge brush for that:) great to hear you guys like some of it!!
I like your artwork. I just think that you can push a little harder on the watercolors, they need more contrast. I know that watercolors dry lighter so I think you should use more paint to increase the saturation. About the drawings, yes you need anatomy studies, but that is ok, just go for it. And keep posting.
Thanks Cojak! :) I'll keep that in mind he next time I do something in watercolor! I'm gonna post some more studies soon!
Wow, some really creative stuff! Nice work.
Always nice to hear! Thank you!:) Here's a photo study.
You got some pretty cool concepts! The B&W painting with the girl in the bathroom is really awesome
Ohh! Älskar din senaste bild. Riktigt nice atmosfär! Jag saknar kanske ett litet rymdskepp upp i kanten eller något hehe. Keep it up!
Erikly: Thanks man! Glad you like it!
Joakim Olofsson: Tack så mycket! Kolla upp Alexandre Deschaumes, hans naturfotografier har oftast riktigt bra atmosfärer! Denna bilden tänkte jag ska bli lite mer åt sci fi hållet när den e klar:
work in progress!
Lovely start to a sketchbook :) really love that last piece. The colours are sublime, as are the paint strokes. My only suggestion for were to maybe focus some efforts would be to look at thumbnails and enviro studies. The top environments all look fairly traditional in composition, maybe try out thumbnails for composition and explore new possibilities.
Thank you! So nice to hear that I'm at least making some progress!:) I've been trying hard lately to work out some better compositions. But you're right I should make more thumbnails!
think i'm gonna call this done now... or maybe I should add more spaceships in the background? what do you think?
Thanks for dropping by my sb. Really digging these last environments of yours. The colors in those clouds man . The spaceship seems a bit out of place which could be a good thing, small farm with a spaceship looming overhead does have a pretty interesting sound to it but I didnt really read it as a ship right away. Maybe putting one in the foreground a bit closer so you get a sense of scale and some detail as to what it is. Other than that man keep up the work.
Thanks for the feedback! My idea was a really massive spaceship in the distance, but I think the image has a lack of depth so it may be hard to tell, as you mention. Think I'm gonna add more ships behind the first one, because I think it would take up too much space if it were closer to the camera. Probably redesign the ship as well, and get some overlapping in there! Thanks again!:)
hmm can't decide..
somthing more traditional UFO like:
or like this:
Great start! I like your digital painting of Roy Batty so much that I'd buy a poster of it in a heartbeat. :)
Arthe: Made my day! Many thanks!:)
