My name is Ilse, I am a 23-year-old student of Game Art from the Netherlands.
First and foremost I would like to thank you for dropping by!
Please don't be a stranger and drop a comment, critiques
are most welcome and if I can find the time I'll be sure
to return the favor!
I've got myself a simple A4 sized book to do my sketches in, I'll hopefully be able to show you some new (and better) stuff soon.
hey keep it up! love the green sea dragon thingy :)
Today's and a bit of yesterday's doodling. For a personal assignment I'm trying to draw a cartoon-ish game character which I will work out further and then attempt to render in a more realistic way. I'm probably going for either 2 or 4.
Dirty scanner. I need to clean that glass >>.
whoa this one is pretty cool. Keep at it!
Very nice sketchbook !!! You have a good understanding of values !!! Keep it up
Well, the scanner got cleaned.
It's so stupid and frustrating how something can look right on paper, but looks ridiculous when scanned.
More practise will come later.
It took a while unfortunately. Relationship, work, driving and I still had a few commissions to finish before I could fully focus on practise (I can't do personal stuff well if I still owe other people art).
Nice stuff, can't wait to see more!
very cool, My friend. keep it up!
silvestri99: Thank you! More will come :). And keep coming, hopefully.
WinterTime: Thanks! I will!
BlackARK: Glad you think so! :)
It's not much but I went and refined the sketches a bit more than I initially intended. Especially the rhino 'dragon'.
Info on the rhino dragon: Too heavy to fly, so it's wings started to evolve into a defensive weapon. Not that it needed them since it's already a tank, but I figured it needed something that still slightly resembled wings.
Info on the "mech": Very quick sketch of a mech I've had in mind for a long time. I still lack the skill to draw her as I actually think she should look (it's a she by the way), so I stopped where I was and decided to try again later.
Everything else is just random doodling or practise.
Update. As is probably obvious, R means a reference was used, NR means no reference.
More may still come today.
Last one for today, I really need some sleep now.
Really awesome stuffff!!! :D :D
The studies are almost always right on :D
And I feel like you should rename yourself to dragon/dinosaur woman ! :P
Keep postin' !!!
Ahh, I'm so slow with my practises lately! I've been doing other things though. Not a day goes by that I don't draw. Here's what kept me busy before, and what I AM still busy with.
The lion character is not my own, it was an exchange type picture for BrennaRaven on DeviantArt. The second picture is more or less a tryout. I wanted to draw something cute in a somewhat cartoony style (it's no particular animal, more of a mix between red panda and lemur).
.... I should get back to sketching now.
Some chimera sketches I did, because I couldn't decide on a pose. I'm probably going for the second though (where the goat is vomiting liquid fire by the way. I'm aware it looks awkard).
And one based off of a bird I saw today when I came home from work. It was sitting perched on a branch, preening itself when the wind suddenly caught it's tail so it flung forward, struggling to hold on to the branch. It really cheered me up and as I got home I decided to speedpaint the scene. 15 minutes.
A couple of sketch commissions I've been working on. I was away for Christmas and busy during New Years, I did some traditional sketching then, but I'll have to scan those later.
None of these characters are my own.
More will hopefully come soon.
Oh, and I almost forgot these! Two of my favourite pokémon of the very first series, and Lairon. I tried drawing them as actual monsters though.
wow awesome sketch book, I liked the mythological creatures.
Your lines seem so... clean and confident. Sweet! Something more loose would be interesting too though -
Arthurkidd: Thank you!
Keeviin: I'm glad you think so :). I wish I could do more loose sketches, I do them a lot but end up automatically refining them (partially also because I'm probably the only one who can still see what they are before that).
You draw wonderful animals and creatures! They've got a lot of feeling and attitude in their postures and your line quality is a world away from what it was on page 1. Keep posting and improving. I'll be subscribing to this.
Hey man, loving your sketchbook so far! My favourites are the pokemon drawn like real monsters XD that's such a cool idea.. maybe when I get good enough some day I'll try drawing my favourites as "real" monsters!
very inspiring stuff, your line quality is great!
Keep up the hard work!
brilliant start! i really like your creatures you got good lines and a good sense of proportions, nothing looks awkward :D keep posting! i will keep looking :D
wow you have amazing artwork and a brilliant understanding of anatomy @_@
Keep it up, I look forward to your next posts!!
Awesome sketchbook! I love the realism, anatomy and perfect line work.
Damn really nice creature designs!Kepp practicing faces and keep posting :D
Wow just great work in here, looking forward to seeing your development in art school!
MoKhi: Thank you :). Glad you think so!
TheButterBunny: Thanks! You definitely should, it's tons of fun :).
Dr poPcoRN: Hey, thanks!
Bellachime: Thanks! And here it is! ;)
Dahami: Thank you!
Cameli: Thanks! I should get to drawing more faces real soon.
cdejong: Thanks a lot. Me too actually, but I have to make it in first!
Here is today's work. I've been chatting with a commissioner today, she's developing a world of her own but she is more of a writer and in need of drawn references, so that's where I come in. Unfortunately the best reference she could give me were screenshots of creatures she designed in Spore, and my job basically was to draw these creatures in a somewhat realistic/believable fashion.
Starting off with the 'elephant' of her world. A full grown man would reach up to about the third spike coming from it's leg. It has sensory antennas for eyes, should anyone get confused.
Second, her world's 'warthog', it digs up it's food with it's peculiar front legs.
And a swamp tree. My first ever serious attempt at sketching a tree as well so probably full of mistakes. I need to draw more plants.
Oh, and another sketch commission like the ones a couple of posts back:
Not too happy with that last one, but I was completely uninspired.
