Theodoric's workroom - Last pics added: 11-21
NEW: I made a site for him. Please feel free to share it :)
So far I only read this forum, there is a lot of really excellent work what inspired me to create my first sculpture.
I bought the necessary tools and materials, I read a lot of tutorial, and start create something. :)
Because I'm a big fan of dragons, it was clear to me what will be my first sculpture. (I know, I know... dragon again... :) )
I've learned a lot during the creation process and of course made many mistakes, had to undo and redo things, also change the concept severeal times.
(Most importantly what I learned (again) is always have a final concept... I'm a 3D artist, so I don't know why I didn't watch this basic rule... )
So here is my first statue. (WIP, Chavant NSP Hard) The main idea and my detail reference is here: Fritofrito's dragon
Pictures of the birth.
dragon_bust_23 - At this point I didn't finish the basic forms, but I felt the concept wasn't good enough, so I asked a concept artist colleague (Robert Simon) to give me some ideas. He gave it to me:
dragon_bust_29 - Cut off the head, to work more easily.
dragon_bust_30 - start working on the details
dragon_bust_31 - first picture again - current status.
dragon_bust_32 - first scale test... ugly and destroyed, wrong direction.
dragon_bust_33 - Try the new scales.
dragon_bust_34 - Spikes added on the other side
dragon_bust_35 - detailing of the head with the final method
dragon_bust_36 - almost finished eye
dragon_bust_37 - big spikes, and stable connect on the head
dragon_bust_38 - teeth mod. started
dragon_bust_39 - more mod.
dragon_bust_40 - final teeth... I think...
dragon_bust_44 - Working on the back spikes...
Thank you for watching, I hope you like it.
