WOW! I absolutley LOVE your mechanical/millitary pieces! (pages 4, and the soldier on page 1) really great stuff.
Always a pleasure seeing what you're up to! portraits look ace as always.
Ha! The sight of El Coro's painting in the morning. It so good it hurt. I'm really missing not living next to the shooting gallery, so I could see your work live on a regular basis. Really dig the self portrait and the two heads over and under it. I can smell the paint just looking at those.
"I am a fat wh0re "....hahahah fucking golden!
Realy awsome alround SB! I especialy enjoy your oil head studies, for some reason your brushwork and confident color choice reminds me a bit of Lucian Freuds stuff.
some really sick stuff as always! any aerosol mediums gettin lade down lately? I know that's where your roots are!
You got some nice stuff in here man, love the sketchyness and looseness.
Keep on sharing man, where's some more art?
cheers and keep on rocking.
hey guys!! so i finally got a chance here to post a few new things, and to answer some of your questions and comments..
hurricane: yeah man the older i get the less i feel inclined to spend my spare time rendering. im finding that i quite enjoy a more impressionistic approach from time to time. its a ncie way to step out of the renderbattle that is concept art, and examine things with a fresh, more playful eye. not that i dont like to paint form, i suppose when im not working on commercail work all the time i might find more of an interest in doing the tighter stuff in the off hours... hope yer good bud.
stalsby: i was just talkign to one of my friends about maybe going out and doing some aerosol sometime soon. we'll see....
D@niel: thanks alot man. you know, i have had people say that before. dunno why really. i think perhaps because we are both fairly heavy handed painters.
Saurus: i really saw a homeless guy with a sign that said that. thats why i put it in there. true story.
Mikael Leger: thanks a ton brother. hope you are well these days.
Vhan Juju: thanks man. i wouldnt say mechanical design is my strongest point, but my father was a mechanic, and i was raised just off a military base, so both of those things are elements i had around as a kid. i just try to make my shit believable. thats the MB motto :) thanks for looking!
iatriki, armetage: :)
Chromosome: thanks man. i paint with a lot of linseed oil and have gotten in the habit of using longer brushes as well lately. i liek the effect if gives! hope yer well dude.
Pau1Winslow: hey thanks Paul. ill keep updating as long as people keep lookin :). the blurred stuff in my book is client notes. my sketchbooks are filled with all kinds of unintelligible notes, but sometimes they pertain to super secret stuff that i need to make sure i dont leak. cant ever be too careful! :)
Toxdel: heres more to you bro! thanks for lookling!
zoldenka: yeah that was ahrd to apint because i had a raging hard-on the whole time.
oishiiniku: haha thanks bro. yeah the toy i designed last year for a series done by a store called upperplayground. dave choe, sam flores, jeremy fish, and myself all created toys for it. it was alot of fun to do, and very satisfying to see your shit made into an actual toy in the end. you, by the way have been doing some absolutely brilliant stuff lately sir. keep up the great work!!!
mrdoom: thanks man. i wish i had some of my coworkers skills and talent instead of my crappy shit :/
nonie: thanks dude. thats because IM EVERY WOMAN ITS ALL IN MEEEEEE!!!!!
Mr.Blonde: thanks brudda. wish i got to do more drawings these days...especially seeing what you been doing lately. shit, so young, talented, and your asshole naturally creates suction? is there anything you cant do??? mad hugs
Layil: awww you are just being nice to the old man :)
Call0ps: it is! ya just gotta do it for like 10 years and it really does get fun and easy!
alyssa milano: thanks! it was a lot of fun to do.

AlexC: dont do it!!! it doesnt work. trust me :P
Piranha Clan: thanks :D
Tamte: yes somewhat, although i dont keep that in mind as i paint usually. sometimes my shadows are almost as think as my highlights. there are no absolutes. i dont get to do much mixed media sketchbook stuff these days unfortunately. all work and no play for this dull boy. thanks for lookin :)
Ryan DeMita: thanks alot man. i love portraiture so much...if i could id do it all day :) glad you dug the paintings in person. they never photograph as well. theres always little shit that just doesnt show up :/ i have to be as versatile as i can because of my job really. its forced me to learn aspects of production art that i had never thought about before. in the end im very glad, because it all contributes to the skillset....the bum thing...just keep your eyes out. im workin on it :) thanks for stopping by bro. stay up.
enthombed: thanks bro!
MattGamer: and thanks to you too sir. hope you are well...
MurdokX: thanks dude. yeah that last one is like a cheap o matte...same approach, just really simply executed for practice. was fun to do tho!

thanks for stoppin by dude. hope yer well.
so lastly, i figured i'd update this thread with some new studies. again the portraits are all from life, usually painted in about 2 hours. ive also included a few drawings too. sometimes if i paint fast enough i can squeeze in a quick drawing. these are all hacked in pretty quickly usually in around 30 minutes. also included is a drawing of an alien penis, and a weapon concept for a vagisword, a shord blade that is stored in a womans vagina. dont ask.
anyhoo, ill try to update more soon. thanks again for looking!!!! :)
damn....i just crapped my pants! awesome update man! just out of curiosity though how long did most of those oils take? did you usually do an underpainting for those? layers? moleskine stuff are a damn nice treat to look at at too :D
good god man. a little blown away after lookin at all this good work, amazing.
Those oils are positively delicious ! I can't believe what you get in two hours, & you still squeeze some fantastic pencil sketches in! I'm off to download part one of your new vid . Hope you and yours are well
most enjoyable SB Coro hombre. them oil portraits are a delight.
I gotta drop by more often, you`re a true master mate. :)
keep sharing, por favor. inspiration at every post.
Dude, these oils are really cool, how long do you do one??
Always amazing to see some your new oilportraits! Really impressive how you manage to put the paint down on the canvas in such thick layers without getting all muddy. Impressive style, Impressive skintones, whew, your stuff gives me all that nice and happy feelings, thanks a lot :D
Fantastic portraits. It makes me want to paint traditionally some stuff too (but all I have is box with gouache paint :P)
That was small surprise for me but I guess after maybe 50 years of experience in drawing he gets so accurate that he wants to keep it exciting and make some mistakes again. Maybe it's the same happening with your art and it's another stage in progress :).
Thanks for posting.
These are all freaking awesome, but the first portrait is just incredible... I dig those textures!! :) Thanks for sharing!
Awesome portraits....what's up with the 'vagisword'?
lol the vagsword is epic. should
be in a movie! heheaha
yes update more. we love to
see you post!! thank you! also
with the paintings, how do you
get people to pose 2 hours at a
time? or do you paint from photos?
I'm getting my skills to this level darnit!(workingworkingworkingworkingworkingworking workingworkingworkingworkingworkingworkingworkingw orkingworking). :D cool!
amazing sketchbook. My new mantra (of course a paraphrase) is "if you believe its easy, its fuckin easy".
those oils are juicy as hell mang... it's like a bisexual at a rosie odonnel shower
...all day everyday.
My name is Inigo Monyota... you killed my father... prepare to paint.
hey, save some texture for the rest of us
You're doing good, man.
nice vagisword! (were you anticipating that most people would fixate on that? :perv:) really reminded me of Shintaro Kago - proper fucked up :D
really love your work as well man - dunno how you find the time to do those oil studies, but they really are supurb...
always a lover of your work, cant wait to see some more of it
Those portraits just glow baby. Yum.
You are one of my biggest inspirations. Thank you for sharing these
:wtf: very educational thread to me :yum: , last update got some ideas of lalala he he :oneye: ..........:ilaekae: i like it yo yo yo.............
glad I found your sketchbook because I wanted to tell you that i saw that graphic novel you did, BUM, and I thought it was really amazing. very great, the art, the story, everything. I read every page. this sketchbook is awesome too. anyways , your work is crazy good!
Love the texture on those portraits. Looks like you had so much fun doing those :)
On the finish/impressionistic comment... do you really feel that way in oil painting too? Have you ever tried form painting?
I would love to see you tackle a painting like that. Carefully placing each brushmark and then leaving it, rounding up into the light,
no blocking-in or massing in tones or colours. I personally feel it's one of the most challenging things.
I look forward to your next batch.
